Umbra & Ximm
Umbra, a young woman who's half demon and half mortal, has had more than her share of trouble in her short life.
Taken into the care of nuns at a small orphanage when her mother died, she grew up with a passion for reading. Particularly books about ancient rituals and temples. After leaving the orphanage to make her own way, she took up the high risk and (sometimes) high reward life of a treasure hunter.
It was during one of her earlier temple dives that she unfortunately stumbled upon a cursed tomb. By disturbing it, she unknowingly set a curse upon herself where she was forced to carry the soul of another thief who died trying to rob the same tomb.
This thief, only known as Ximm, is now her constant companion whether she likes it or not. While at first repulsed and horrified by the perverted man, she has slowly come to accept him as a friend.
Penumbra & Pimm
The physical manifestation of the 'dark demon' persona, she escaped Umbra's body by taking over the body of the child in the stone. Originally, she was content to wait to be borne naturally by Umbra. However, when the midwife stole her from Umbra's womb, it triggered a blood sacrifice that brought about her dark birth sealing the fate of the midwife.
Just as Umbra's soul was split, so too was Ximm's and the result was Penumbra's own little companion known as Pimm. The timid little guy is the polar opposite of his host, often horrified by how cruel she can be.
Being the part that was her demonic strength and ferocity has lead to Penumbra having a very violent personality now that she is unrestrained by Umbra.
Lord (Damon) Empyrium
In a former life, he was a powerful lord who went to war with the entire world. The conflict that finally ended his reign of terror was known as the Galva War. The survivors, thinking his evil had finally been vanquished, breathed a sigh of relief and began to rebuild.
Decades later, one still loyal henchman managed to find a way to revive him by tricking Umbra into resurrecting him. However it soon became apparent that something was different about him. This man, while Empyrium in manner and appearance, had a certain aura about him that made even his closest allies begin to question if the man they now served was the same that went to the grave.
